Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned early how to get out of her difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could read and write. In the year she turned 8, she got her first electric guitar and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That following year, Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in high school but she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. When she graduated from the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting with RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974, when her solo hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their collaboration with Wagoner, wrote I Will Always Love You and made it to Number. In 1974, Parton's song"I Will Always Love You" reached the No.
